An unexpectedly progressed lumbar herniated disk

In this letter of the editor, AAO member Adam C. Gilliss, DO, raises concerns about a case report on a patient with a herniated disk published in the December 2013 issue of The Journal of the American Osteopathic Association. The letter writer argues that the history and physical examination findings in the patient in the case report are consistent with that of a patient who has pain and dysfunction in the left lower extremity and back caused by somatic dysfunctions in the lumbar spine, pelvis, and lower extremity.
