Mathematical analysis of the flow of hyaluronic acid around fascia during manual therapy motions
The Journal of the American Osteopathic Association
More research is needed regarding the role that hyaluronic acid plays in motions that are commonly used in osteopathic manipulative treatment and other manual therapies. The authors apply a 3-D mathematical model to evaluate the flow of hyaluronic acid around or within the fascia during constant sliding, perpendicular vibration, and tangential oscillation motions.
